In November 2017, I bought a field. which is situated in the village Nivania, near Dewas district. Bhartiya Vigyan evam Takniki Kendra laid its foundation on this farm. In December 2017, a bull-operated oil-pressing mill was installed on this centre. This is the initial setup that I used for processing the oil. This mill was made from durable wood name “Anjan”. The durable wood was chosen for its strength and longevity. This wood is also called 'Kaliya' in the local language.
From 2017 till now, this mill has been proven useful for the local farmers. The villagers have been able to process their own crops (seeds) more easily to obtain pure oil. The farmers bring their own seeds, which mainly include peanuts and sesame. The Indian Science and technology Center has provided this facility free to Niawnia & Bharbawdi village farmers. With the help of the bulls in the centre, they can easily extract the oil itself. In 2 hours, A 6 kg seeds give upto 3 litres of pure oil. They extract pure oil in this way. By eating this oil in their food, the health of the villagers has improved. Because this oil contains HDL (good cholesterol), it keeps their body healthy. Also, no electricity is required, so it also saves energy and makes use one bull as shown in photographs below.
In Apr 2018, I constructed a traditional bull operated lime concrete mixer. This is also called 'Garath' in the local language This mixer uses slaked lime and black sand. Both are natural ingredients. Jaggery, The fruit of the Bilva tree (Aegle marmelos) & Terminalia chebula, commonly known as black- or chebulic myrobalan, used as natural plasticizers. All ingredients are added in correct proportions with water. Two bulls revolve the grinder stone for at least 2-3 hours. Mixing and grinding process of raw material process occur simultaneously. As a result, after 2-3 hours, a high-quality lime workable concrete is prepared.
Following are the technical specifications of the Bull operated traditional lime concrete mixer.
Advantages of lime concrete over cement concrete are:
In 2022, a bull operated sugarcane extraction Ghani was installed at Centre. The bottom part of the sugarcane Ghani was made up of 2.5 tons black basalt stone (ancient made). Its upper wooden part was made by Babul wood by us. After Ghani was completed, it was made available for free to use sugarcane farmers of gram Nivania and Bharyabawdi . The villagers have been able to process their own sugarcane more easily to obtain fresh juice. Few farmers had made organic jaggery from fresh sugarcane juice with no cost. The change that observed is that a natural immunity of village juice consumers is developed and no case of infection & jaundice was seen since last 3 years. This is how both villagers are taking advantages.
In 2024 February, an iron making furnace (Bhatti )was installed at the centre with the help of two “Agadia Person”. The people of the Agariya community have been doing this work since the time of their ancestors. Their forefathers were also engaged in this occupation, and they have been continuing it for generations. Iron making furnace (Bhatti) of height 2.5 feet is made up of yellow soil as principal ingredient. 2 kg of iron ore (hematite) stone is cut in small pieces with 5-8 mm size. Approx 2 kg of iron ore requires 5kg of coal for oxidation. Oxidation is done with the help of Chappu. Chappu is made with leather and bamboo setup to give oxygen to system by foots. With this technology, with working at least 3-4 hours, an iron is obtained by iron ore. 2 kg of iron ore gives 100-200gms of iron after cleaning process. Iron obtained from this process is rustless. No any other industry in world claims to make rustless iron. This is the magic of this Indian local technology to give rustless and durable iron. With this iron, any tool shall be made upon.
A one-day workshop which was organized on 25.1.2026 for villagers of gram Nivania and Bharyabawdi to demonstrate this local technology & make them aware. As this technology was interesting and challenging & of great demand in word, 5 village participants had learned this skill from the workshop. They learned how to make their agricultural iron tools- sickles and axes with the help of this technology.
In Dec 2025, A traditional handloom was installed at centre. This was made of Sagwan wood, commonly known as Indian Teak (Tectona grandis), is a highly durable, termite-resistant hardwood. The handloom was designed as simple so that anyone shall work on it with the movement of hand and foot simultaneously. Any type of fabric shall be made with the use of this loom. Usually, it takes one day to make simple Saree and two days to make designer Saree. A workshop has been organized for village woman to learn to make Maheshwai Saree. An expert Mr. Madan from Maheshwar has been called to train women participants. Seven village women has attended this one-day workshop which was organized on 25.1.2026.
